So, Oliver has started learning about WW2 at school, and naturally, Anne Frank came up in conversation. He was really interested, so when I mentioned I had the book The Diary of a Young Girl, he couldn’t resist and borrowed it to read. I love how his curiosity has sparked an interest in such an important historical figure. It’s amazing to see him diving into real stories from the past. Fingers crossed he finds it as eye-opening and inspiring as I did. It’s definitely a book everyone should read at some point! #WW2Learning #AnneFrank #FamilyReads #HistoryAtHome
Tonight we went out to celebrate David’s mum, Sandra’s birthday with a lovely meal at Ashoka Southside. We all love the food there, and once again, it didn’t disappoint! Sandra really enjoys this restaurant, so it felt like the perfect spot to mark her special day. Great food, good company, and lots of laughs—just the way a birthday should be. ❤️ Happy Birthday, Sandra!
What a fantastic day we had exploring Edinburgh! I spent the day hopping on and off the sightseeing tour bus with the three boys. It was a great way to take in all the city’s iconic sights without the hassle of walking everywhere. From the Castle to the Royal Mile, and all the hidden gems in between – we really made the most of it! We all had a blast. Definitely a day to remember! #EdinburghAdventures #FamilyFun #SightseeingWithKids
Today we had a lovely day at the Scottish Deer Centre! It was amazing to see all the wildlife and the boys loved getting up close to the deer. Afterward, we couldn’t resist heading into St Andrews for a little treat – and of course, no trip would be complete without an ice cream from Jannettas Gelateria. It’s always a must when we’re in the area. The perfect way to end a great day! 🦌🍦 #DeerCentreAdventure #JannettasGelateria #StAndrewsTreats
What a day! I’m absolutely knackered after trying to keep up with this pair. 10,200 steps later and I’m definitely feeling it! Balloch Country Park at Loch Lomond was gorgeous, but while they were zooming around on their scooters, I was doing my best to keep up on foot. 😅 We had a blast though, with stunning views and plenty of fresh air. Totally worth the sore legs! #BallochCountryPark #LochLomond #ScooterVsWalk
Spent a lovely few hours down at Rouken Glen Park—perfect weather for a walk while the boys zipped around on their scooters. The sun was shining, spirits were high, and it felt so nice to just slow down and enjoy the day. We grabbed hot chocolates from the Boathouse Café and found a quiet spot by the pond to sit and soak it all in. Simple moments like these are the best.
This was our first time trying this type of holiday, and overall, we had a great experience.
We stayed for two weeks in the summer (July)—our first time doing this type of holiday, and overall, it was a great experience.
Getting There: We flew into Barcelona Airport and pre-booked a transfer through Sun Transfers at a cost of €180 for a 40-minute journey. In hindsight, we realized there’s a bus that stops right outside the campsite, which would have been a fraction of the cost—though a bit slower.
Arrival and Accommodation: On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by reception staff and given a map to our 3-bedroom Azure caravan. As expected, the caravan was compact but perfectly adequate for our needs. We were lucky to be located in a quiet area and had a nice veranda equipped with a table, chairs, bench seating, a couple of loungers, and a BBQ (which we didn’t use). The caravan was clean, and the beds were comfortable.
Pool and Facilities: The pool area was a highlight—large, clean, and well-maintained. There’s a section for kids with a water bucket and small slide, and a larger pool with slides, a waterfall, and a jacuzzi. Loungers were available, though limited in number. The pool opens at 10am, and there was always a queue, but we were fine laying our towels on the grass. Lifeguards were attentive, and food wasn’t allowed by the pool, which helped keep things clean. Drinks (including water) were allowed, and there’s a pool bar just outside that also serves pizza and snacks.
Entertainment: There were some children’s activities during the day, but they were mostly in Spanish, which made participation a bit harder. Evening entertainment took place near the pool bar—space was limited, so we often just relaxed on our veranda and enjoyed the music from a distance with a drink in hand. Shops and Restaurants: The on-site mini supermarket had most essentials, albeit at slightly higher prices. There’s also a restaurant and bar on site—we had drinks there but didn’t dine. For more affordable options, there’s a nearby supermarket out the back gate (near the school) and a smaller shop directly across from the main entrance.
Access and Transport: As a Eurocamp guest, you’re given a bracelet for site access. There’s a back gate you can swipe open, which provides a quicker walking route into Sitges. The bus stop at the front of the campsite offers services to Sitges and Barcelona. However, it’s a fixed price fare all the way to Barcelona, so if you’re just going into Sitges, it’s cheaper to use the back exit and catch the local bus near the school.
After a walk around Sitges, we stopped for a quick refreshment at Hotel Sitges. Turns out, they had a cool surprise waiting—C3PO, R2D2, and BB-8!
Returned to La Oca for dinner tonight since we all loved the pizza and chicken last week. Honestly, it’s hard to beat that combo! 😋 Can’t believe we’re nearing the end of this fantastic holiday—such an amazing time.
Here’s to making the most of the last few days in this beautiful place. #Sitges #LaOca #HolidayVibes #StarWarsInSitges
Today, we decided to take the train to Castelldefels and escape the heat by checking out its shopping centre. After browsing, we grabbed some delicious pastries and refreshing drinks at Dehesa Santa María—perfect little break! 😋
The day also ended with a lovely jewellery purchase, which was an unexpected treat! 💍We wrapped it up with a nice walk in the park on our way home, making the most of the beautiful weather.
A pretty chill yet delightful day! #Castelldefels #ShoppingDay #SweetTreats
We caught the bus right outside the campsite and headed into the vibrant heart of Barcelona! Our first stop? Some absolutely delicious pastries to kickstart the day—always a great way to begin any adventure. 😋🥐
The rest of the day was all about exploring the amazing works of Gaudi. We started with the iconic Sagrada Familia, then wandered through the streets, admiring the architecture and soaking in the unique atmosphere of the city. The day was filled with awe-inspiring sights and lots of photos!
Snapped photos at the Sagrada Família—17 years apart! So special to stand in the same spot all these years later and see how much has changed (and how much hasn’t). Barcelona never loses its magic.
Spent a few chilled hours around the pool today, complete with some lovely live entertainment—a woman singing and playing the fiddle. Such a nice atmosphere to unwind in.
