Review: Eurocamp at Camping El Garrofer, Sitges, Barcelona

This was our first time trying this type of holiday, and overall, we had a great experience.

We stayed for two weeks in the summer (July)—our first time doing this type of holiday, and overall, it was a great experience.

Getting There: We flew into Barcelona Airport and pre-booked a transfer through Sun Transfers at a cost of €180 for a 40-minute journey. In hindsight, we realized there’s a bus that stops right outside the campsite, which would have been a fraction of the cost—though a bit slower.

Arrival and Accommodation: On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by reception staff and given a map to our 3-bedroom Azure caravan. As expected, the caravan was compact but perfectly adequate for our needs. We were lucky to be located in a quiet area and had a nice veranda equipped with a table, chairs, bench seating, a couple of loungers, and a BBQ (which we didn’t use). The caravan was clean, and the beds were comfortable.

Pool and Facilities: The pool area was a highlight—large, clean, and well-maintained. There’s a section for kids with a water bucket and small slide, and a larger pool with slides, a waterfall, and a jacuzzi. Loungers were available, though limited in number. The pool opens at 10am, and there was always a queue, but we were fine laying our towels on the grass. Lifeguards were attentive, and food wasn’t allowed by the pool, which helped keep things clean. Drinks (including water) were allowed, and there’s a pool bar just outside that also serves pizza and snacks.

Entertainment: There were some children’s activities during the day, but they were mostly in Spanish, which made participation a bit harder. Evening entertainment took place near the pool bar—space was limited, so we often just relaxed on our veranda and enjoyed the music from a distance with a drink in hand. Shops and Restaurants: The on-site mini supermarket had most essentials, albeit at slightly higher prices. There’s also a restaurant and bar on site—we had drinks there but didn’t dine. For more affordable options, there’s a nearby supermarket out the back gate (near the school) and a smaller shop directly across from the main entrance.

Access and Transport: As a Eurocamp guest, you’re given a bracelet for site access. There’s a back gate you can swipe open, which provides a quicker walking route into Sitges. The bus stop at the front of the campsite offers services to Sitges and Barcelona. However, it’s a fixed price fare all the way to Barcelona, so if you’re just going into Sitges, it’s cheaper to use the back exit and catch the local bus near the school.

Good Morning from our part of the Campsite

Last Days in Sitges

After a walk around Sitges, we stopped for a quick refreshment at Hotel Sitges. Turns out, they had a cool surprise waiting—C3PO, R2D2, and BB-8!

Returned to La Oca for dinner tonight since we all loved the pizza and chicken last week. Honestly, it’s hard to beat that combo! 😋 Can’t believe we’re nearing the end of this fantastic holiday—such an amazing time.

Here’s to making the most of the last few days in this beautiful place. #Sitges #LaOca #HolidayVibes #StarWarsInSitges

Barcelona Zoo Adventures

Back into Barcelona today for an absolutely amazing day at the zoo! We had such a great time exploring and spotting all the animals. Sadly, the big cats decided to stay hidden in the heat (can’t really blame them!), but we loved seeing the red panda and giraffes—definite highlights!

After a busy day on our feet, we wrapped things up with a refreshing half-hour splash in the pool. The perfect way to cool off and wind down!

Exploring Vilanova i la Geltrú

A little adventure today! We hopped on the bus from just outside the campsite into Sitges, then caught another one to Vilanova i la Geltrú for some sightseeing around one of the local cities.

It was great to explore somewhere new—wandering the streets, soaking up the atmosphere, and seeing a different side of the area. A lovely mix of old charm and local life. Always fun getting out and about!

Barcelona Wanderings – Markets, Memories & a Bit of Lego Magic

A gorgeous day spent exploring some of Barcelona’s most iconic spots—La Rambla, the markets, and the winding lanes of the Gothic Quarter. So picturesque and full of character around every corner.

Hard to believe it’s been 17 years since David and I were last here—and this time we got to share it all with the family. We even made a stop at the beautiful Arc de Triomf, just like we did back then.

The Lego Store was a huge hit—we spent a good chunk of time in there and (somehow!) escaped with only small purchases. Oliver was in his element when we popped into the Barcelona FC Store… safe to say that visit made his day!

Such a fun mix of nostalgia, new memories, and all the Barcelona charm.

Sitges Sunshine, Rotisserie Chicken & a Warm Evening

We visited Sitges today and had a fantastic lunch at La Oca, a family-run spot known for its Catalan cuisine. The rotisserie chicken was absolutely delicious. The boys opted for pizza and declared it the best ever, already asking to return another night!

After a day of exploring, we spent the evening relaxing on the verandah. Even as the sun set, it was still a warm 27°C—a perfect end to a lovely day.
