Art and Street Food

We spent a lovely little hour at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum—just enough time for a quick wander through some of our favourite exhibits and a quiet moment or two soaking in the beauty of the space.

Afterward, we headed over to Dockyard Social for a laid-back afternoon of street food and waffles with friends. Great company in the form of Alex, Petya, Alex’s brother, and his family made it even better. Good chats, good eats, and a really good vibe all around.

Back at Cunningar Loop

It’s been a while since we’ve visited Cunningar Loop, but we finally made it back today! 🌳 The weather was perfect for a stroll, and it was so nice to reconnect with the natural beauty of the area. The boys had a blast running around, exploring, and spotting wildlife. We even managed to enjoy a little picnic in the sunshine.

A Refreshing Walk at Fernbrae Meadows Nature Reserve

Had a lovely little adventure today at Fernbrae Meadows Nature Reserve. It was a bit muddy underfoot, but that just made the walk even more fun! The fresh air and peaceful surroundings were exactly what we needed. I didn’t even know this hidden gem existed until today, but I’m so glad we discovered it. Definitely a spot to visit again for some quiet nature time!

A Scenic Stroll at Balloch Castle Country Park

Had a lovely trip to Balloch Castle Country Park today at Loch Lomond. The walk was just perfect, and the views were absolutely breath-taking. There’s something so calming about being surrounded by nature, and this place never disappoints. Definitely one of my favourite spots to escape to and soak in the beauty of Loch Lomond. Can’t wait for the next visit!

Keeping Up at Balloch Country Park 🚶‍♀️🛴

What a day! I’m absolutely knackered after trying to keep up with this pair. 10,200 steps later and I’m definitely feeling it! Balloch Country Park at Loch Lomond was gorgeous, but while they were zooming around on their scooters, I was doing my best to keep up on foot. 😅 We had a blast though, with stunning views and plenty of fresh air. Totally worth the sore legs! #BallochCountryPark #LochLomond #ScooterVsWalk

Sunny Strolls and Scooting at Rouken Glen Park

Spent a lovely few hours down at Rouken Glen Park—perfect weather for a walk while the boys zipped around on their scooters. The sun was shining, spirits were high, and it felt so nice to just slow down and enjoy the day. We grabbed hot chocolates from the Boathouse Café and found a quiet spot by the pond to sit and soak it all in. Simple moments like these are the best.

A Day at the Rural Life Museum

Yesterday, the three of us—Oliver, Lewis, and I—headed over to the Rural Life Museum in East Kilbride for a lovely day out. The sun was shining, but it still had a bit of a chill in the air, making it the perfect day for a little adventure. Armed with a picnic, we were ready to make the most of it!

Since it’s the Easter break, the museum had some fun activities lined up for the kids, all centered around bees. We joined in on a candle-making activity using beeswax, which was super simple but fun. The boys got to roll a sheet of beeswax around a wick, and they loved making their own candles. It was such a lovely, creative activity!

Afterwards, we took the 10-minute walk up to the farm area, where we saw a bunch of baby lambs, pigs, and calves. The boys were absolutely enchanted with the little animals, and we spent some time wandering around the farm, checking out the other animals and the farmhouse. To get back down to the museum, we hopped on the tractor—what a fun way to travel!

Back at the museum, the boys were fascinated by the old tractors on display, and of course, they couldn’t resist a visit to the adventure park for a bit of playtime.

We ended up spending a great couple of hours there, and to top it off, the museum now offers an annual pass for the same price as a single entry, which was an unexpected bonus!

All in all, it was a wonderful way to spend the day, and we’ll definitely be back soon for more fun.

A Spontaneous Day Out to Bothwell Castle

After a quick shopping trip, we decided to make the most of the day and headed to Bothwell Castle for an impromptu adventure. It was a perfect way to spend an afternoon, and it was also our first castle visit of 2019!

Bothwell Castle was absolutely stunning, with its towering walls and rich history. We spent some time exploring the grounds and admiring the architecture. One fun highlight was trying to find the cannonball embedded in one of the walls. It’s surprisingly tricky to spot! After some hunting, we finally had to ask for help, as it’s definitely not the biggest cannonball we’ve ever seen. We’ll be sure to look for it again the next time we visit!

After our castle exploration, we decided to take a 2-hour woodland walk along the River Clyde to Blantyre. The trail was peaceful and scenic, a perfect way to unwind after a day of shopping.

Overall, it was a lovely and unexpected day out, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit to Bothwell Castle!
